Dermal fillers – Feel rejuvenated and ready to go!

Dermal fillers provide an instant result that will significantly reduce or even completely smooth out lines and creases. Dermal fillers are also used to add volume to the areas of the face which have deflated over time due to gravity, ageing or dieting. Tiny amounts of clear natural gels are placed under the skin to plump out lines, folds and wrinkles to leave skin which is firmer and smoother.

Dermal Fillers are useful to plump up the skin in areas which have lost their own volume like cheeks and lips and they improve the condition of the skin by rehydrating it and stimulating your own collagen production.

The Dermal Fillers used by Dr Alison J Brown are a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid which is found naturally to occur in humans but which decreases in our skin as we age. Dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid have an extremely low risk of allergic reactions and can be dissolved if required. The hyaluronic acid forms a clear gel which is placed under the skin using a very fine needle. There is minimal discomfort because there is anaesthetic within the gel.

Dr Alison J Brown often uses a combination of dermal fillers to provide what is known as a ‘liquid facelift’ which can be combined with Botox, to give maximum effect. It works by carefully replacing lost volume through the ageing process and gives subtle, beautiful results which make you look refreshed.

Dermal Fillers such as Allergan’s Volift and Volbella are used to produce beautiful lip enhancements which look and feel natural. These advanced products, which contain their own anaesthetic, make the procedure much more comfortable than in the past and lessen the risk of bruising.

  • The Dermal Filler Consultion

A full medical history is taken during the consultation and the treatment is explained full.

Alison will assess which dermal filler will be most suitable for your face and how many syringes will be required to achieve the result that you want. A dermal filler is an extremely safe and effective treatment for smoothing our nose to mouth lines or lifting the corners of the mouth for example and the results are instant. However, there are lots of things to consider – all of which Alison will discuss with you.

When we are young we have nice plump cheeks. As we age, our cheeks start to loose volume and to sink down which causes the nose to mouth lines and a droopy, down-turned mouth. All the volume once in our cheeks ends up in our jowls. In other words, the triangle of youth has reversed and the volume once at the top of our face is now at the bottom of our face.

We can use dermal fillers around the nose to mouth lines very effectively but sometimes it is better to restore some volume to the cheeks to give a more youthful result. Alison can examine your face and advise on which treatment is most beneficial to you. Replacing lost volume to the cheeks addresses the cause of the nose to mouth lines and achieves a lift which makes people appear refreshed and more youthful.

All treatments are done to make any changes appear absolutely natural and the results can be long lasting (12-18 months) depending on the product used and the area of the face. Alison will discuss all this with you at your initial consultation.

Dermal filler treatments are available for deeper acne scarring and some types of facial scars.

  • The Dermal Filler Results

There may be some redness immediately afterwards and Alison can apply a high grade mineral makeup for you before you leave. It is possible that you may have some bruising and you will be advised on how to minimise the likelihood of this. There may be a little swelling but this should resolve within a few days which is why Dr Alison J Brown recommends that you have your treatment a week or so before the special event – just in case you experience a little bruising or swelling. You can resume normal activities straight afterwards or go back to work.

Alison makes sure to give you after-care instructions and this is one of the most popular and safe aesthetic procedures. Alison advises that you do not rub the area or apply your own make up to the area straight afterwards but she will advise you individually depending on the procedure you are having. Different areas require different types of Dermal Filler and Alison will explain this to you at your consultation.

Why not come along and have a chat with Alison so that she can discuss which treatment is most suitable for you? Alison will spend time asking you about the kind of result you want and recommend a treatment for you. She can also show you before and after photos of patients who have agreed for their photos to be used so that you can make an informed decision about whether this treatment is for you.

If you would like to meet Alison, please feel free to book an appointment to discuss which treatment options are best for you. There is no charge for this.
